
Richie Beard
Richie is a former college and professional player. He played 4 years at Sam HoustonState University where he received many accolades as a pitcher. After college he played with the Texas Rangers organization, the St. Louis Cardinals organization, and several independent teams. He has given private instruction, group instruction, conducted camps, promoted players, taught in several Texas public schools, and coached high school baseball for the last 20 years. Richie has taken part in over 30,000 hours of instruction and on the field training during that time period. Likewise, Richie has taken part in thousands of hours of video analysis and research relating to hitting and pitching. Richie designed and developed the “sport specific” training program for pitchers that has proven to dramatically increase velocity, control, mechanics, strength levels, flexibility, range of motion, and overall performance. He has a B.S. in Exercise Science with emphasis on bio-mechanics and motor learning, from Sam Houston State University and a M.S. in Instructional Technology from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. In order to help develop his students further; he is working on his doctorates degree in human movement and performance. He is in charge of curriculum and Programs development for Hardball Academy; designing, developing, and monitoring of all instruction.

Josh Cathcart
Coach Cathcart played high school baseball at Brazoswood High School in Clute, TX where he was a Houston area standout at second base finishing his high school career with a .989 fielding percentage.
After graduating from A&M with a bachelor’s degree in sports science and management, he began his coaching career at his former High School. Coach Cathcart coached at Brazoswood for 10 years and was part of 2 regional finals, 2 regional semifinals, 2 regional quarterfinals, and in 2011 was the hitting and infield coach for the Texas 5A state championship team from Brazoswood who completed their playoff run without dropping a game.
Coach Cathcart is a student of the game; always on the lookout for new ideas to help develop young players reach their full potential, and has been a personal hitting instructor in the Houston area since 2002.
Coach Cathcart is in the process of authoring a book on hitting, and has worked/coordinated numerous camps in the Houston area.
Coach Cathcart is an advanced hitting instructor for Hardball Academy and he helps with the hitting development program and infield development program, as well as coordinating the Academies travel teams.

Jessica Bowden
Jessica Bowden was a pitcher at Pearland High school and made three state appearances from 2009-2011, winning in 2010. She played college at McNeese State University and was a Conference champion in 2013 as an infielder. After a year at McNeese, she transferred to East Texas Baptist University where she made an appearance to the World Series in 2014. Playing second and third base, she won another Conference Championship in 2016 and was a Regional Champion in 2017. After her eligibility was
complete, she stayed for another year to complete her Master’s in Business in 2018 while being the Graduate Assistant coach for the softball team. Coach Bowden has experience in coaching for the Stingers organization and ProForm out of Dallas. She coaches and trains athletes from the ages of 7 to
the collegiate level which all involve pitching, hitting, catching and fielding.

Jim Bolt
Jim is a former college and professional player. He played college ball at Pepperdine University , where he also obtained a degree in teaching with an endorsement in baseball.
Following college, he played professionally with the Cincinnati Reds organization. Jim also served as assistant coach at Pepperdine University and coached many youth league teams. Jim has conducted over 22,000 private, group, and team instructional sessions over the past 15 years with Hardball Academy. Jim has had tremendous success with his fundamental approach to hitting where he emphasizes biomechanical principals and not a specific “style” hitting.

Brandon Hoeffler
Brandon Hoeffler is a former Captain All-State at Manhattan High School, Captain All-Conference at Barton County, and Captain All-Conference at Fort Hays State.
Since graduating college, Brandon took on the role of coaching the younger generations. He has since coached at his former JUCO Barton County, and the semi-professional Junction City Brigade, and now our Hardball Elite 13U Team, and Hardball Elite 16U Showcase Team.

Rocky Hughes
Rocky Hughes is a former college and professional baseball player. After being named Oklahoma Pitcher of the Year, he played 2 years at Pratt Community college in Kansas. In 1999 he was drafted by the Chicago White Sox’s and played 5 years within their organization. Shortly after playing, Rocky began his coaching career in Midland Texas. There he worked as a private instructor and Head Coach of Trinity High School, where they won back to back State Championships. In 2009 he moved to Houston Texas and spent 9 years coaching within an organization in NW Houston. Rocky is a well-versed instructor/coach, and is very knowledgeable in his area of expertise.

Adrian Delagarza
Adrian Delagarza is a former college and professional player. Adrian spent time in college playing at Alvin Community College, Texas Southern University and Texas A&M Kingsville University.
Adrian’s college career earned him two NCAA Conference Championships and allowed for him to understand several different pitching program philosophies. Adrian’s career led him to an opportunity to play Profession Independent League baseball in the United League.
Adrian has been a private baseball instructor for 8 years and has been an instructor at Hardball Academy for 6 years with specialties in pitching and sports specific training programs.
He also has several years of experience as a hitting instructor and coaching at skills training camps with Hardball Academy.
We are pleased to have had Adrian on our team here at Hardball Academy. Adrian is a great instructor, and even better role model for our kids.

Dylan Hood
Dylan Hood played high school baseball at Santa Fe high school where he was a pitcher and first baseman. Dylan was a part of 3 district championship teams at Santa Fe High School. After High school Dylan furthered his education where he majored in kinesiology with a concentration in athletic medicine and Biomechanics.
After College Dylan was an instructor at D-bat, San Antonio for a year where he gave lessons and ran camps. In 2019 Dylan started working at Hardball where he began giving hitting and pitching lessons to all ages as well as running a variety of camps.
Dylan’s major has helped him create throwing programs and arm care routines for his pitchers at Hardball Academy to help them gain velocity and stay healthy throughout the course of a season.
We are pleased to have had Dylan on our team here at Hardball Academy. Dylan is a great instructor, and even better role model for our kids.


Adrian Delagarza

Jack Kaiser
Jack Kaiser is a former college player. He spent time playing at Alvin Community College, University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) and University of St. Mary`s in San Antonio. Career accolades include multiple All-conference honors, NJCAA All-Region honors, & NJCAA All-American Honors.
Jacks coaching career started as an assistant coach with League City American Legion where he helped lead them to the American Legion World Series in 2022, regional finals 2021 and 2019.

Carey Jennings
Carey started with Hardball as a top performing player in 2002. After working with Coach Beard and a hitting instructor, Carey led his all-star team to an undefeated United States South Zone championship. While playing baseball and football at a high level in District 24 -5A,
Carey endured three shoulder surgeries, cutting his collegiate playing career short.
This sparked his lifelong passion for injury prevention and rehabilitation amongst athletes.
Carey graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelors degree in Kinesiology –
Exercise Science with an emphasis on sports performance and biomechanics. He stayed
connected to the game of baseball through umpiring, volunteer coaching for his nephews’
teams, working group camps, and individual private lessons.
After college, Carey worked for 3 years as a teacher and coach in the Houston area, working with
children ranging from elementary through high school age. He then began working in the fitness
industry where he worked closely with performance based trainers. During this time, he
developed skills related to increasing strength and speed, injury prevention, injury recovery,
and nutritional guidance for high level athletes. He has a passion for and track record of
helping others accomplish their goals; through embracing both the psychological and physical
challenges associated with competing at the highest level, he will help you accomplish
your goals.
